Yangibazar district was founded on November 23, 1981 and is an administrative-territorial unit of the Khorezm region. The area of the district (land area) is 0.34 thousand sq. km. The district has 45 settlements, 30 municipalities, 16.3 thousand households, 24.4 thousand families. The district is located 18 km from the regional center of Urgench and borders on 3 districts (Urgench, Shavat and Gurlen), and also borders on the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Today, 87.7 thousand people live in Yangibazar district (including 43.8 thousand men, 43.9 women).
