Vobkent district is located in the eastern part of Bukhara region. The district was founded on September 29, 1926. It borders on Gijduvan district in the north, Bukhara district in the south, Shafirkan district in the northwest, Peshkun and Romitan districts of Bukhara region in the west, and Kanimekh and Kyzyltepa districts of Navoi region in the east. The area of Vobkent district is 0.29 thousand square kilometers. The length of the district's borders is 105 km, including 22 km with Navoi region, 30 km with Bukhara district, 12 km with Romitan district, 9 km with Peshkun district, 26 km with Gijduvan district, and 6 km with Shafirkan district. As of January 1, 20232, the population of the Vobkent district was 145.9 thousand people (including 73.4 thousand men and 72.5 thousand women), of which the rural population is 117.7 thousand people (81%), the cities - 28.2 thousand people (19%). The population density in the district is 503.1 people per 1 sq. km. The number of births in the district in 2022 was 3185 people, including 1621 boys and 1564 girls, the number of deaths was 589 people, including 300 men and 289 women. As of January 1, 2023, the total number of economically active population is 60.8 thousand people, including employed - 57.9 thousand people, unemployed - 2.9 thousand people. There are 45 mahalla citizens' assemblies and 30.6 thousand households in the district. The center of the district is the city of Vobkent.
